Prepare for New Husky D Federal Work Rules
September 10, 2026Because of new federal Medicaid rules, some people with HUSKY D will soon have new work requirement rules.
HUSKY D is Connecticut's Medicaid program for low-income adults aged 19 to 64 who do not have dependent children and are not eligible for Medicare.
Effective January 1, 2027, to keep your HUSKY D coverage, you may need to show proof that you work, and/or go to school, and/or volunteer, do community service, or cannot work.
It is important to note that not everyone is impacted. If the changes apply to you, you will receive information from the Department of Social Services. DSS may also ask you to provide information showing that these rules do not apply to you.
It’s important to make sure your contact information is up to date to get these updates. You can confirm and update your information at portal.ct.gov/UpdateUsDSS or call Access Health CT at 1-855-805-4325.
You can also reach out to your local legislator for information and assistance on navigating these changes.
Many Connecticut residents rely on Husky D for their healthcare coverage. We encourage everyone with Husky D to stay informed and prepare to ensure your coverage is maintained when new federal rules take effect on January 1, 2027.
