Legislation to Regulate Sober Homes

January 30, 2017

I have introduced legislation that would regulate sober homes in Connecticut. Sober houses are a great resource for people working to recover from drug or alcohol addiction, but only if they’re run by people who can provide the proper support and resources. We need to ensure that people on the path to recovery receive the services that they were promised and that they deserve.

This bill would require sober homes to:

  • Register as a business with the municipality in which they are located
  • Register with the state Department of Public Health
  • Have naloxone (Narcan) available on the premises if any person living there has a history of opioid addiction
  • Provide training in the administration of naloxone to all tenants if any person living there has a history of opioid addiction
