Funding to Combat Opioid Epidemic

December 15, 2017

I’m thrilled to share that the Community Health & Wellness Center (CHWC) of Greater Torrington has received a $1 million loan to continue expanding their efforts to combat opioid abuse. With deaths from opioid overdoses in Connecticut on the rise, their work providing high quality care to individuals struggling with addiction is essential.

The funding, which was awarded by Primary Care Development Corp. of New York, will allow CHWC to hire more providers trained in opioid treatment, make IT upgrades, and improve care integration. I continue to push for legislation providing protections for residents in sober living homes, so that we are providing the full spectrum of support individuals need on the path to recovery.
