Cook Appointed to Deputy Majority Leader

Rep. Cook has been appointed Deputy Majority Leader for the 2017-2019 term by Democratic leaders, Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz (D-Hamden) and Majority Leader Matthew Ritter (D-Hartford.) The Deputy Majority Leader is responsible for aiding the Majority Leader with the review and development of policy, the analysis of critical legislation, and with the agenda of the majority party.

As Deputy Majority Leader, Rep. Cook will work closely with the Speaker of the House and Majority Leader to rally support to pass critical legislation.

"I am eager to work with Speaker Aresimowicz, Majority Leader Ritter, and all my colleagues across the aisle to ensure that we pass legislation that betters the quality of life for Connecticut residents," said Rep. Cook said. “As my position of Deputy Majority Leader, I will also be able to guarantee a strong voice for the Torrington community.”
