September is Alzheimer's Awareness

September 4, 2018

September is World Alzheimer Awareness Month and therefore I’m bringing a few things to your attention.

The first is a high level look at the warning signs of Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Sometimes we are unsure if a forgetful moment could be an early sign, therefore, while this list is not meant to be a definitive diagnosis, it is meant to help put things into perspective.

Secondly, there are walks being planned across CT, and closer to home on September 30, New Haven will host their Walk to End Alzheimer at the Lighthouse Point Park. Please find more information here.

Finally, the Alzheimer’s Association is an excellent resource that offers programs, services and support to families and individuals affected with this illness with local offices in Southington and Hamden. It was helpful to my family.

As always, please feel free to reach out to my office at 800-842-8267, by email at Dorinda.borer@cga.ct.gov, or my Facebook page for updates or for any question or concern you may have.
