4 Important Announcements that may apply to you

November 9, 2017

I wanted to bring to your attention four important application announcements that may relate to you or someone you know concerning Energy Assistance and the Care 4 Kids program. Also the West Haven fire department is accepting applications and CT’s health insurance open enrollment runs through December 22.

Energy Assistance
Energy assistance applications are now being accepted for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program, which helps residents who struggle to pay their winter heating bills. Over $67 million in low income home energy assistance has been allocated to our state. Residents can apply through local Community Action Agencies across the state. More information can be found at afca.org.

Child Care
I am pleased the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) has reopened the vital Care 4 Kids program thanks to the hard work on our budget priorities, with $31 million in funding that was included in the budget we passed. Connecticut families, currently on the wait-list, can start enrolling in the Care 4 Kids program, the state’s primary child care support program.

Further information about the Care 4 Kids program can be found at www.ctcare4kids.com or calling 1-888-214-KIDS (5437).

To contact the Office of Early Childhood, visit www.ct.gov/oec or call (860) 500-4412.
