Update: Police Training Bill

May 2, 2016

The House has passed legislation that's expected to lead to changes in the way Connecticut trains its police recruits. The legislation forms a task force to examine existing police training practices and curriculum in Connecticut.

The panel will report its findings to the General Assembly no later than October 1, 2017.

Rep. Verrengia drafted the legislation in his role as vice chair of the Public Safety and Security Committee. The bill received overwhelming support Saturday in the House and now heads to the Senate.
