With the heat wave that has hit the state and more hot days ahead, I wanted to take a moment to encourage you to take proper safety measures during this humid and hot period and throughout the summer season.
I spoke in favor of a measure that would restore voting rights of convicted felons on parole, as long as they have not been convicted of an election related felony House Bill 5418. Sadly, this bill didn’t come up for a vote, but I wanted to share my remarks on the House floor.
I am pleased to see SB 455, An Act Concerning Minority Teacher Recruitment and Retention passed the House of Representatives unanimously and now goes to the Governor for signing. This is bill has been one of the top priorities of the Black & Puerto Rican Caucus and I am excited to finally see this bill moving forward.
