State Report: Stratford’s Economic Strength Improved Compared to Other Municipalities

Stratford Receives Motor Vehicle Tax Reimbursement
October 13, 2022On October 1, the state dispersed a reimbursement grant of $1,087,343 to Stratford, supplementing our town because of our recent motor vehicle mill rate reduction.
Among other state tax cuts, there was a reduction of our motor vehicle mill rate to 32.46. Stratford has an overall mill rate of 39.47.
Stratford Ranked Among Top Small Cities in the U.S.
October 7, 2022News to be proud of! A new report from WalletHub has ranked Stratford in the top 10 percentile of best small cities in America.
The report compared more than 1,300 cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 based on 43 indicators of livability - focusing on cities' affordability, economic health, education & health, quality of life, and safety.

October 6, 2022State Rep. Joe Gresko, D-Stratford, whose district includes Sikorsky, also addressed the group. He said while he understands the city may not be looking to "complicate" negotiations with the CAA, the center has a 99-year lease and benefits the airport.
